Almost a nursery...

This past weekend, the parents - to - be were very, very busy.
On Saturday, Scott and I spent hours hopping from store to store to store in Altoona, looking at cribs, changing tables and gliders. At first, we were disappointed, overwhelmed and thoroughly confused. Near the end (and after bumping into Mike and Julie at Toys "R" Us) we finally started to make some progress.

We managed to (under budget!) purchase our crib and mattress, changing table and glider... as well as paint for the nursery! A wild success and a very long day, but well worth it.

But then, no rest for the weary!

On Sunday, we prepared ourselves for one of the most exciting and yet daunting projects we knew we had to do for Baby Z -- the nursery.
For the past six or so months, the nursery has acted as part guestroom with my antique of a day bed, part Proud room with a large dog bed in the middle of the floor, part shoe storage for me until our closet project is completed, and a widespread accumulation of baby items, books, papers and "things that didn't really fit in any other room."
So after we cleared out every inch of the room, Scott set himself up for drywall, mudding and painting while I wandered through the piles that overtook our hallway and guest room.
It was quite a project for both of us.

As of today, the painting in the room is done (a beige-ish "sand trap" color on the walls, with white trim and blue "teeny bikini" paint on the shelves and some of the upper trim... Daddy picked the colors) It looks fantastic!

I'm sure we'll start tackling putting furniture together in the next few days -- because we're too excited to wait and because it's precariously leaning against our dining room table right now and the cats are starting to use the tops of the boxes for cat beds.

So for now, you get work-in-progress photos.
I'll post completed photos soon...
